Project: Sept 2024 Menu Launch YouTube Ads
Role: Graphic Designer
One of the most interesting part of menu launch time for me is building out all the digital ads. Each year more assets are added so this ends up being a rather large project, and I always look forward to it. Here are some examples of YouTube Ads that I built out in After Effects.
In our creative direction given to us by the branding agency we work with, there was a photo on the moodboard of a spotlight on a cocktail. I thought it would be fun to create a spotlight going over the limited time menu items.
These videos had to be made into 3 different aspect ratios and 2 different time durations. I also created these before the audio was delivered to us by our voice artist so that I can make sure to complete it in time for the deadline. Once I laid the audio in I adjusted the animations to match the cadence of the audio. Another challenge is to make sure there was enough time at the end of the videos to display the website address, logo, and in some cases a QR Code.

Project: New Store Opening Meta Ads
Role: Graphic Designer
This ongoing project us to update all digital ads assets for new store opening announcements. The National Sales manager sent me a request to update our new store opening Ads. Our previous ads were templated from a previous designer and the call out was that they were looking stale. We connected on a few meetings to come up with a better design and conducted market research of some our our competitors.
I created these ads in Adobe After Effects. Some challenges with these Ads that run on Facebook and Instagram, is keeping all pertinent information within the safe zones. I have a layer of guides I use to make sure I am keeping within the safe zones and regularly checking Meta business info site to adjust when specs change.

Project: Email Design
Role: Graphic Designer
Ownership of email template creation with video and animation effects. Pitch a new template design to Marketing team to increase brand awareness. These new email designs hold to a more strict alignment with brand colors, fonts, and usage of the company’s mascot to continue their tone of being fun and quirky.
Usage of Adobe Photoshop and After Effects to achieve layout design and animation. The icons were already created by the Art Director and I took my own spin by animating them (ie. the cow piggy bank).
Assisting in creative briefs whenever necessary. Provide some copy when needed. Submit drafts to Art Director, and then to the Director of Brand for final approval. Tasks are tracked on a project management program Monday.com.
Collaborate closely with the Director of Brand & Marketing, Art Director, and VP of Marketing to bring each email to life with the intention of always increasing brand awareness, growing subscriber base with thoughtful or informative emails that don’t feel too sales-y.

Project: 2024 Summer Test Items
Role: Graphic Designer & Photographer
Every year, about 3-5 test items launch in two stores to trial its performance with customers. I meet with the Art Director to go over the style and look of the poster. I schedule the shoot with the Executive Chef and the Art Director, handle all the photography using my DSLR Cannon Camera, complete all editing in post, come up with the header graphic in Illustrator, create the print file as well as the digital poster for select locations that have Digital Menu Boards, and then send the order off to print for the stores requiring printed posters.

Project: New Menu Campaign Landing Pages
Role: Graphic Designer
Every menu launch I redesign the landing pages featuring approved creative direction of our new menu launch. Initially, I was tasked with creating files in Photoshop then sending PNG files to the website developer, however, I pitched to the Art Director a trial of building out the landing pages in Figma. Now the landing pages are always made in Figma and there is better control of design and execution with our website developer.

Project: 2024 GM Leadership Summit
Role: Graphic Designer
The Operations team tasked me with creating a logo that matched the theme of the 2024 Biennial Leadership Summit “Making Mendo Magic”. They wanted some literal references to magic in the logo. I presented the company’s logo mark coming out of a top hat. This project encompassed creating the summit logo, pull up banner, PPT slides, sponsorship board, directional signs, a map, deck of cards, certificates, an award, and a tote swag bag for the attendees.

Project: January 2024 Menu Launch (Print & Digital)
Role: Graphic Designer/Interim Art Director
Photography: Matt Beard
Shortly after completing my onboarding, the Art Director as well as the VP of Marketing went out on maternity leave. Going from training to leading projects was my biggest challenge, but was also the most incredible time in my career as a designer. I worked very closely with the Director of Brand during the seven months both of my direct reports were out. After this Menu launch released, it was received very positively by the CEO of the company.

Project: Career Website Refresh 2023
Role: Graphic Designer
The brief sent over to me by the Human Resource Department was to update our Careers page on our website. The graphics needed updating and they sent me examples of other careers pages from competitors.
Using the company’s brand colors, icons, fonts, and keeping with their fun, quirky, approachable tone, I lead on the concepting, design, and layout. Ensuring that the brand ethos is represented in all aspects of the webpage, from headers to CTA buttons. Goal is to feel welcomed when interacting with the page and encouraging visitors to apply.
A particular challenge I faced was keeping a fun and dynamic page look minimal, and also fitting in a lot of copy. In some areas I requested to cut down on copy so that the CTA stayed clear and we wouldn’t lose visitors to text. The use of icons from our brand package helped with this challenge.
